The 49ers have released two well-respected veterans, Dana Stubblefield and Dave Fiore. "Stubbie" was an acknowledged leader on the defensive line, and played out the season with a strained lower back because there was literally no one left to take his place. Fiore was one of the better blockers on our line, giving Garcia time to pass.
The official reason for the releases is the salary cap. This is complete crap. Stubbie is on the record as saying that he would happily take a pay cut to remain a 49er. He wanted to retire wearing the red and gold. But out numb nuts owner, John York, is once again proving that he knows nothing about football.
At this rate, it's going to be a long time before the Niners have a parade down Market Street...
