In case you haven't noticed, not only has LJ once again made an utterly unpopular change to the site without asking if anyone wanted it, they are laughing about our response.

I take this shit from Facebook because I'm not paying a dime to be there. But LiveJournal? This is a paid account, out of my own pocket and through the generosity of my awesome friends. I wouldn't eat in a restaurant that randomly changed my order and told me to get used to it, would you? So I am done. As soon as I can get everything ported over and adjusted, I'll be posting exclusively at my Dreamwidth account (same name). Things will still crosspost here, and I'll get replies here in my mail. But like hell am I deliberately giving them any more traffic than I need to give them.

Dreamwidth is allowing open registration this month, no invites needed. If you're as sick of the Russian Overlords as I am, feel free to follow me. Follow me, follow me to freedom!

Now, as part of my personal Oregon Trail to my new home I need to trim my icons down. A new paid account on DW allows 100. I have 119. So I need you, my stalwart and dedicated readers, to help me thin the herd. Go to my all icons page, and tell me three or four that you feel are ugly, poorly done, not representative of me, or just redundant. Nothing is sacred.

I have a permanent paid account. My beta-reading community is here. Moving? I don't know how to transfer it, and I don't trust transfer tools -- been burned by so-called simple transfers of data before.

I did contact the head of the group that owns LJ directly, on Facebook, and messaged her specifically about this.

DW is originally based off the same codebase as LJ, though it's expanded a fair bit, and the transfer tools work pretty well. Plus, it's not like it wipes out the copy on LJ, so it's still here if something does go wrong (like enough people migrating at once that the LJ servers get overloaded or something.) It's pretty simple and well documented -- I did mine after one of the rounds of extreme flakitude from LJ.

If nothing else, it can be good to have an off-site backup.

You have two different icons for generic SF Giants stuff (i.e., not playoffs, not world series). One is the word GIANTS superposed on a baseball; the other is their cap logo, orange on black. I'd class those as redundant, and dump one or the other.

I don't have a paid account, but I was thinking of installing my own WordPress somewhere, just to be more in control.

Not that I rejoice at the prospect of running PHP stuff on my own, but it still seems like the best option.

I haven't been writing much here, some of the reason is that it's somebody else's service.
