Went down to my FLGS (Friendly Local Game Store) to pick up the latest Dragon magazine. While I was there, I wandered back to the small gaming area to see what was going on. It was a Warhammer 40K game. And one of the players was Robin Williams.

He is like that in real life. He was providing sound effects (like teeny-tiny screams when units were attacked, voices for his OrkBoyzs, etc.) He noticed me in my Giants gear, got up, put his hands on my shoulders and said "Son, they lost. Give it up! Move on!"

He had to leave, but it was a wild time.

addition, added at 2027 channel surfing, I caught a bit of the Golden Globes. He was sitting there watching the proceedings looking like anything but a gamer.

[livejournal.com profile] alendrel has told me of previous Robin Williams sightings too, I believe. At least, I believe it was him, and Robin Williams. I'm getting old.

Yes indeed.

That was me. Robin WIlliams is also a big MagiNation player (very anime CCG) and one of my FLGS is run by the guy who designs it. Apparently, somehow, the two of them got to corresponding, and RW was invited to drop by when he was in town last summer for a comedy tour he was doing. And lo, he did. Poked around, bought a half-dozen 40K codexes and the current White Dwarf. The staff have a couple of pictures of him with them hanging up in the store.

I also read an artile where he was talking about playing COunterStrike.

Yes. I just can't remember anybody's name.

Actually, I've just had some luck encountering celebrities. I waved at Jerry Rice one when we were on the freeway, and he waved back! (swoon, thud)

One of the local game shops, CardHaus (or the place where the B-O burns your eyes) had Robin Williams at the grand opening. They have some pics of him with the kid who owns the place. (And I hear Billy Crystal plays AD&D.) BTW, that's CardHaus in the U-District in Seattle.

The thought of Robin Williams in an RPG is downright *terrifying*. As a player *or* as a GM.

Stuff like Warhamster is merely scary.

For *true* terror, picture him channeling Miss Ditzhammer Spofulam (Traveeller Mailing List in-joke)

Yeah. Talk about your crippling performance anxiety.

"I... I'm sorry."
"It's okay, really."
"Nothing like this has ever happened to me before."

I'm not sure if Robin could pull off Ditzie. Different mode. For that matter, I can't really think of anyone at the moment who could. Not sober, anyway.

I talked briefly to him once, when he was taking his family to a Renaissance Faire, but I think your story's better.
