I still need to pick up a new card holder for my wallet.

Also need to find new silencers for my dog tags. Yes, I still wear my tags. If for no other reason, they have my blood type printed on them.

But I'm not going anywhere. I'm trying to get back into the habit of wearing my teeth, and to help suppress my gag reflex I've taken a Vicodin.

OK, here's a question for the non-veterans on my friends' list. A standard set of US dog tags have five lines of information stamped into them. Without looking it up, can you tell me what those lines contain? I've already told you what's on line 4.

Winner!!!!

I had to go with NO PREFERENCE for the religion line. In 1984 the Army didn't believe in atheists. These days I could probably get ORTH BASEBALL on my tags.

Especially because I'd be a Command Sergeant Major with 27 years of service. Are you going to tell me I can't have what I want on my dog tags?

I certainly would not tell you what you can put on your tags :)

(I'm guessing, and not a US citizen, and not looking at the other answers.)

Name, Rank, Serial #, Blood Type, Unit

Not looking at other comments:

Religion (so they know who to get to bury you).

Left out serial, d'oh.
And I suppose rank and unit change too often to just reissue them. Not thinking 20th century enough.

Yeah, despite all the attempts to make "smart" dog tags, the old reliable ones persevere. I was once told that dog tags exist solely for the medics and graves registration. They say who you are, what blood type you need, and which chaplain to call/which funeral rites need to be observed.

For silencers, you might want to try Mountain View Surplus (2045 South Bascom) or Stevens Creek Surplus (3449 Stevens Creek north of Valley Fair)
