Oh, by Halford's Shiny Head it felt good to get in my truck and drive again. I had to take some paperwork to Kaiser for my own disabled parking tag. For the last nine months, this has been something that Kirsten would have to do on a long lunch. Both because of my ill health and the fact that we registered Darby as non-operational due to budget constraints. But now I'm back, and able to get around a little better.

Bit disconcerting to turn on my favorite alternative music station and hear Chinese music. Evidently Channel 92.3 got jobbed with no notice... again. Listened to other, lesser stations on the drive to Kaiser. Where I sat for about 20 minutes at the Medical Secretaries office to drop of a piece of paper that needs one signature from my doctor before I take it to the DMV. Which will take, on average a week. Think about that. In a sane world, I'd walk into my doctor's office, Tell the nurse "If Dr. Petty has a second, can he sign this?" and be on the road to the DMV within thirty minutes. Overall, Kaiser has been great, but their paperwork procedure annoys me no end.

Was considering a haircut, but decided to do something more important. I went to Lord&Sons to inform them that I would not be returning to work. Luckily Ugo was there, and he's going to have the necessary paperwork and my check for my left-over vacation time brought to Offhand Manor. They'll pick up my uniform items at the same time. Hung out in the warehouse for a while saying my goodbyes. As much as I bitched about that job, I loved doing it and I was the best damn driver they ever saw.

One more errand to run. I filled Darby's gas tank. Yikes! By then I was past done and came home. Darby drove really well; you'd never know that he hasn't been moved since mid-February. We will be taking him in for an inspection and fluid changes before heading up to Reno.

Good day. Good to get out. Now, I go play football. My 49ers are looking good. I'll post the roster later.

One awesomely funny moment. As I was leaving L&S, one of the office ladies was standing by her car swearing. Her keyless entry remote wouldn't work. Without a word I took her keys.. and unlocked the door.

Ouch. That stuff hurts, doesn't it? Is good to be actually getting disability payments, but the not-being-able-to-work sucks glacial erratic boulders through tiny coffee-stirrer straws.

still not as bad as the person who called a locksmith about locking their keys in the car....
"And could you hurry? I left the top down and it looks like rain..."

True, but when my remote stopped working and I used the keys . I discovered the keys didn't arm/disarm the immobilizer, and of course I'd locked the car with the remote which did.

Bummer about the job. Always sucks to lose that feeling of I have a Purpose. Or why I started volunteering when taking care of Mom and Harold meant I couldn't hold down anything that wanted me regular, even a part time job.
And some people are just brain dead. Change the routine at all... Still Big Harold was surprised when a dead battery on a remote had me pulling out the key hidden inside it. Got me in, and driving. Later the stupid little battery was easily replaced.
