I have never seen this in Civilization IV before. Playing the English under Victoria, I was angling for a Space Race win (neighbors were too big and advanced to whomp, and the League of Nations was not my path to victory.) Build all the parts and the Space Elevator, launch. 16 turns later I get the "Mission Failure!" message. sigh. Build a whole new starship and launch that. 16 turns later, that mission fails as well!

Luckily, I always have a back-up plan. Got a cultural victory. But really, two mission failures in one game?

Hmm. Never had a mission failure before. But I don't think I ever tried many Space wins.
