San Francisco 49ers: 39
New York Giants: 38

That was, without a doubt, the best, weirdest, wildest, most exciting football game I have ever seen. It had everything: break-away plays, stunning errors, lapses of concentration, broken scrambles, heroes, villains and a heart-stopping finish!

The Niners fell behind 38-14 in the 3rd quarter. It looked like we were out of it. And then it started. The Niners collectively woke up. The defense became like iron, the offense not only fired on all cylinders, but added the JATO pack.

38-22

38-30

38-33

Then with one minute left in the game, Garcia hits Tai Streets to make it 39-38. We tried for our third 2-point conversion of the game, but failed. Then came the Giants' final drive.

It looked like they were going to get in range for a winning field goal.. and with six seconds left, on third down, they lined up for a 41-yard field goal.

And the snap was bad! In a terrible flashback to another famous flubbed FG attempt, the holder, rather than spiking the ball to stop the clock so they could kick again, tried to run the ball and throw a pass to a lineman who was illegally downfield.

Time expires, the Niners win in the second greatest comeback in playoff history.

Combined with an almost as amazing Browns - Steelers game earlier, this was one of the better days of football I've ever seen.

Bring on Tampa Bay!

GO NINERS!!!!

I just habitually add an extra hard return at the end of everything I post to LJ (entries and comments) to avoid that.
