Almost 40 years, and 13 different themes.

I hear any of them, and I'm 14 again, watching KTEH at 11:15PM on a Saturday night. Greatest theme music in history.
So, which is your favorite? You never forget your first love, so the first Tom Baker intro is a special thrill, but either the second Jon Pertwee or Sylvester McCoy's are my favorite.

Date: 24 Jan 2011 21:36 (UTC)I had to wiki Dalek to discover it was not a sidekick to the Doctor.
It was not shown in my area until I was an adult, so I missed the teen impression thing like I did with MPFC

Date: 24 Jan 2011 22:03 (UTC)It was nice to hear all of them at once to compare.
I like the sparseness of the First of the Fourth. The first ones are too sparse. But there is enough to the fourth base line that carries it through. Yes, four was my first doctor. But I'm going for musicality/true to the theme, not fond memories for this.
I'm not really crazy about the new orchestra ones. And in 11, you can really hear how they are changing the theme.
Which is sad, because when Matt Smith sings the Doctor Who Theme (go find it on YouTube, it is hysterical), he sings a version closer to Four's than anyone's. Which says how iconic that version is.
I do believe Matt's first doctor was Five.
