...there has to be several copies of GURPS Traveller: Ground Forces lying around. I just read this Wiki article about the ongoing reorganization of the US Army.

Modular brigades that can be plugged into a divisional headquarters as the mission requires. See page 30 of my book to see where I came up with that idea first.

They owe me royalties. Or a commission.

A commission? So, like, Lieutenant?

As if! I think Colonel would do nicely, followed immediately by my retirement

Try Kentucky, they seem fond of giving those out.

If you're lucky, you'll get a LETTER. That's what Doc Smith got for essentially inventing modern Naval C&C.

Royalties or a commission, for something that the Vilani probably invented when they had just gotten off Vland?

Even if you wanted to claim that, you'd probably need to claim it from the nearest Ziru Sirka patent office. I'd guess it's on Dingir or something. Relatively close, anyway.

I just didn't realize they've infiltrated the US Army, too.

(Ground Forces is a good book, I like it. If I ever run a Traveller game, I might go for a military campaign.)

I shudder to imagine you as a 2nd Lieutenant. Captain, yes. Major, as a stepping stone to Lt. Colonel, yes.

But not 2nd Lieutenant.

Ah, but you didn't know me in my young and extremely stupid phase! Remember, I have a misspelled tattoo.

I would have had "his men will follow him anywhere, mostly out of a sense of curiosity." all over my OER.

"Lieutenant Berry?"

"Yes, Sir?"

"The correct command for your platoon to advance while mounted is '3-Bravo, advance.' Not 'Ride! Ride for Ruin and the End of the World!', furthermore.. where in the hell did you get that sword?"

Now this reminds me of that Scottish(?) officer in the WWII that went to battle with a frikkin' claymore.
