OK, how bad is it?

Our landlord came by today. There's a leak and he couldn't remember which apartment has the access to the crawl space. I went to look.. and within 30 seconds needed to have him bring me my inhaler.. I was so bad, coughing and wheezing, that I couldn't stand.
After that, I took a shower and retired to my bed.
kshandra came home, and being a goddess, made dinner. Getting out of bed and getting dressed left me with another coughing and wheezing fit. These are so bad that they trigger my gag reflex and I think I pulled a muscle in my side.
This happens every single time I move from a warm place to a cold one, or do any kind of physical labor. I'm using my rescue inhaler four times a day. It's supposed to be 1 or 2 times a week.
I'm starting to wonder if I can even do dispatching work. If every little change sets off another attack, how useful could I possibly be to any potential employer?
My disability has extended through the end of February. The biopsy got lymphatic tissue, but it was non-diagnostic. I'm now scheduled for another PET Scan in April.
I'm so tired of this all.

Date: 7 Jan 2011 08:11 (UTC)Have you done much steam work? Sitting in the shower with steam I find helps calm down that cough wheeze reaction. Through some Vicks VapoSteam it has eucalyptus in it. Those are the Old Time Remedies.
I also have had a steam vaporizer going in the bedroom.
Also are you doing an anti-inflammatory? - Steroid is the old stand by but they have new ones.
The idea is to get the windpipes to heal and stop re-irritating.
Every cough, especially like yours, is re-irritating. Codeine seemed to help me stop the cough cycle. YMMV
It took me a month the last time it got that bad. It just takes time for the lungs to stop coughing and then heal.
