Last night [livejournal.com profile] kshandra and I hosted a low-stress party at our place for several friends to celebrate that spate of winter holidays. That it occurred on the Solstice was a nice touch.

With the house mostly clean, and leaks fixed, I discovered my first gaff. The Niners played Saturday this week in an effort to totally confuse every football fan on Earth. The first arrivals were [livejournal.com profile] yohannon and his SO (whose name and/or nick has slipped my mind) and we watched the Niners game. They are football people! Not just fans, but people with whom you can discuss the advantages of an actual fullback or the Niners ability to throw short. Great game, and we won, which helped.

People began arriving. , [livejournal.com profile] hopeforyou, [livejournal.com profile] sinboy, [livejournal.com profile] jemstone, and [livejournal.com profile] shadopanther along with some others came and went, and there was much good food and Dafydd brought some incredible whisky. Normally, I can't drink. But what the hell, it's a holiday, right? I had a small glass with about a double shot in it. I was hammered. Not sloppy drunk, but God did I feel it!

We listened to a lot of music, doing things like Da Vinci's Notebook, The Clairevoyants, and Moxy Fruvous. Since it was obvious where the night's tastes were going, I gave Kirsten her Winter Gift early.. Gift Wrapped: The Best of The Arrogant Worms. They're a Canadian comedy music group that a friend turned us on to a few years back.

There were a few tech-orgies. People beaming their Palms at each other, and at one point [livejournal.com profile] clairaide and three other party goers were Mac-geeking on the couch. It was decided that Kshandra and I could open our big present from Dafydd. It was the Soundworks speakers I mentioned in the last post.

After a time, Clairaide, Sinboy and Hopeforyou had to head out to another party. The rest of us went to karaoke. I got home far too late, and stumbled off to bed. I'm sure Kiri will post all about the singing.
