Not only were the skylights replaced yesterday, and now the roof is blissfully not leaking, but I got a phone call today...

The Colma Police Department called today to see if I was still looking for a dispatcher position! Hell yes!

The orals are in January, so it's time to hit the books and start working on my game face.

Hoody-fucking-HOO!!!

WooHoo!!! I guess that's what the good news was huh?? That is way terrific!! Let's talk about how that impacts your trip but a job is way more important that visiting the Big Apple. YAY YOU!!!

Yep. :)

The oral is in January. Assume a week and a half to get formal notification if I made the hire list. Then at least a couple of weeks of background investigation. So it shouldn't affect the trip. I'll let them know when I make the oral cut that I will be out of town for a week in Feburary.

Glee!!

So happy to see that you've got some good stuff coming down the line (and that your apartment's staying dry)!

Go kick their asses!

So raindrops are no longer falling on your head?

As for the dispatcher job, I hope it works out. and at least that's a job where any "weirdness magnet" tendencies will be buried in the background noise <eg>

Oh yeah.. being a dispatcher for the only town in the world where the dead outnumber the living (it's true, the place is mostly cemeteries) isn't going to send my Weirdness Magnet to overload.

I'm looking forward to it.

(Did I mention the area gets heavy fog? Thousands of graves in heavy fog. Zombie City!)

P.S.: How long has it been since you had a
gig? I'm myself feeling actually better back
at work (since Monday) then when I had all the
free time...

Had my seizure as a security guard in April, been on disability since. While being able to work would be nice, I'm not going to settle for bloody job that is going to have me on my feet all day or outside getting even sicker.
