When the ball hits the chalked foul line, throwing a clearly visible puff of dust, that means it is a fair ball, not a foul. Foul lines are in play. To quote the Gospels, 2.00:

FAIR TERRITORY is that part of the playing field within, and including the first base and third base lines, from home base to the bottom of the playing field fence and perpendicularly upwards. All foul lines are in fair territory. (emphasis added)

Stupid blown call cost us a probable run in the first inning.

Just curious, where did it strike, anyways?

Oh, and who am I listening to broadcasting this game? It's on MLB Network here and I can tell it's the Giants' broadcasting crew.

Not sure who is doing the radio broadcast. It's usually Jon Miller and David Flemming. TV is being handled by Kruk and Kuip (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kruk_and_Kuip).

It's the TV broadcast, so that makes it Kruk and Kuip. I'm sure this is torturous for you to watch though.

Yeah, but we got three runs later in the game and SD got ZIP! So we are in the playoffs.
Go have another beer and Celebrate!
