kshandra has departed for
That Thing In The Desert in Darby. My poor truck is not just doing his noble and natural duty as a pick-up truck in hauling all Kirsten's stuff up to the
Land Beyond Gerlach but since she has a disabled license for on-playa driving, my truck is going to be used for... art.
Nothing permanent, nothing that can't be disassembled, but my blue-collar, Mike Rowe-approved, working-man's truck is going to be admired by hipsters. Many of whom will not be wearing pants. I shudder. Which is why there are
24 23 Coronas in the fridge. To help me deal with the prospect of my dear little Darby being used to encourage artists. Because as far as I'm concerned, most art sucks these days. Which doesn't stop me from wanting to win the lottery and recreate the statue from
Ozymandius on the Playa with the face of either
Larry Harvey or Paul Addis on the half-shattered head.
sigh I'm happy that she does get to go this year, and understand how important it is to her, but it still sucks that I'm not going to have my Kiri around for the next ten days or so.
On the upside, I'm going to start seriously tackling the remaining unpacking tomorrow. Death! Death to boxes!

Date: 28 Aug 2010 22:35 (UTC)Kirsten is planning on doing both events. The timing would allow her to go from one to the other with only a few days layover in Reno (oh, the horror) but it may not happen.
I need to figure out who to contact at Renovation for something special. Next year is our 20th anniversary, and since we met through fandom, I thought having the party at Worldcon would be cool.

Date: 29 Aug 2010 20:44 (UTC)We may have to negotiate next year about a decal I can use, as long as it can be removed at the end of the event....
