Remember him? Conservative governor of Louisiana who mocked government spending on volcano watches a week before Mt. Redoubt erupted? Big advocate of a small federal government and state's rights? Him?

Have you heard him since the Deepwater Horizons disaster started. He's done nothing, nothing, but blame everyone else and whine that he can't do anything until the federal government helps him. Yeah, Mr. Small Government immediately ran to the feds to bail his ass out. Seems that our man of action never even thought of acting then defending his actions in court and the press. If you haven't been following this, Jindal was complaining that they process for getting authorization to build sand berms to block the oil. If I was governor, I'd tell my guys to start doing it, have the press on hand to watch, and announce that the feds could sue me. But I wouldn't hit all the talking head shows to cry about the federal government being slow. Of course it's slow!

But now the permission to build the berms has been granted. So all is good in Bobby's world, right? Nope. Seems Louisiana needs a big check from BP to buy the sand and pay the crews. So, Bobby Jindal, advocate of small local government taking action, is unable to do anything until Washington tells him it's OK, then can't do anything because no one planned in advance for this eventuality.

He's a moron.

Now, odds that he'll actually be called on it?

AGREED. I've been flabbergasted by some of the stuff I've read about cleanup efforts; people are just standing around, waiting for someone else to tell them it's okay to do what they're there to do.

So very much agree. 7 weeks ago, when he was threatening to build berms on his own, despite the Feds, I was all 'good idea, do that' - only to see him do *nothing* but whinge for the next - soon it will be - 2 months! What a waste of news-time.

Why not put him in a diving suit and drop him over the gunwhale above the blowout -- let him go down and do his laying-on-of-hands thing to drive the evil gusher demons away.

It seems that Doug is not alone in complaining about Governor (Why'd he run for office if he doesn't believe in government?) Jindal

Warning: as usual, some of the comments there are rage-inducing.

His version of "small government" (like that of many people) appears to be "Charge me no taxes; impose no laws upon me; when times get tough, come and bail me out, but don't make me responsible for anything." In short, it's the way selfish children act with rich parents.

I suspect most people would like to live that way; unfortunately, it doesn't actually work.

Yep. Their response is equally childish: throw temper tantrums. Me, I'd prefer to live in the real world.

That last comment is insulting - to morons.

Yeah, Jindal lost any respect I might have been able to grant him when his "party response" from the Obama healthcare speech came out and he proclaimed everything opposite to what was said. There were speculations that his rebuttal was taped before the speech. I don't know if that was ever proved, but it'd be funny. Him and Eric Cantor are my #1 and #2 bozos.
