Tim Lincecum scattered four hits over six innings and had three hits and three RBIs, leading the San Francisco Giants to a 9-0 victory over the sloppy Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. Lincecum (3-0) struck out seven and walked two. The two-time Cy Young winner has allowed just two runs over 20 innings in his first three starts. But it was at the plate where he made the biggest impression. Lincecum got all three of his RBIs against knuckleballer Charlie Haeger before the Dodgers got their first hit against the All-Star right-hander as the Giants built an early 5-0 lead. He had only three RBIs last season in 66 at-bats.

Great game, and more than made up for last night's fiasco.

What is this, the Day of Shutouts? Livo delivered an 8-0, four hit shutout today for the Nationals too.

ETA: Of course, Livo's was a complete game shutout, so nyah! ;)

Did Livo go 3 for 4 at the plate getting 3 RBIs in the process? I think not!

Nope, and I don't care. I'm just reveling in the fact that the Nationals aren't the worst team in baseball (or even in our division!) right now, for the first time in WAY too long. :)

I think Tim's going to win Cy Young if he keeps this up - he actually has to pitch well, because the Giants' lineup is not quite as good, IMO, as the Phils' lineup.

Currently the Phillies team OPS is .893. best in the National League. The Giants come in 4th with a team OPS of .815. We're hitting a lot better than most people expected before the season started.

I was particularly tickled at how they left "Slugger" Lincecum in to hit rather than using a pinch-hitter in the top of the seventh before lifting him for a new pitcher at the start of the bottom of the seventh. As you know, he didn't get a hit on that fourth at-bat, but it still looked like a good decision. I also liked the suggestion that if he keeps up this sort of offense that they might consider using him as a pinch-hitter on his off days.
