Force is a telekinetic, but a limited one. He can fly, deflect attacks, but his ability to move objects is severely limited. He's an example of the "TK superstrength" type. As long as he's in contact with it, he can lift a freighter out of the water and not have it snap in two. The gloves were created by another of my heroes, Steel Rainbow, in an attempt to allow Force more control at a distance. They don't do that, but do allow him to project blasts of telekinetic energy that pummels and pushes the target (In Hero System terms, an Energy Blast that attacks PD and does double knockback.)

Force is member of the Bay Guardians (they settled the lawsuit) which is part of the national Guardians program that gives some legal law enforcement powers to superheroes under the Department of Homeland Security.
