gridloreIn the heat of the Presidential race, Senator John McCain was booked to be David Letterman's only guest. In the midst of the deepening economic crisis, McCain announced that he was suspending his campaign and flying back to Washington immediately to work on the crisis. (This was odd, as McCain was not on the Senate Banking Committee and had no leadership role in the GOP Senate caucus.)
Letterman called in Keith Olbermann as a substitute guest, and what followed may well have tipped the electoral momentum.
The lesson here? If you are going to bail on David Letterman, don't lie about it!
