And now our revels are ended.

What a weekend.
When I last wrote, I was getting ready for the ghostwalk of Old Montreal. That was good, hokey fun. After that I spent a few hours at the designated party hotel, which was a bit of a disaster. There were two party floors, the 5th and 28th, and the hotel had set aside two elevators as direct shuttles to those floors. Good in theory, but what quickly happened is both floors filled up to capacity, and fans were left in long lines in the Delta's lobby. Needless to say, I avoided the parties for the rest of the weekend.
Saturday was mostly a wash. I attended a few panels, wandered for a bit, but knew I was reaching a point of being overly tired. I declared it "spoon conservation afternoon" and hid in the room watching Canadian television.
Yesterday I started out in my steampunk best. Sadly, the worst panel of the con (that I sat all the way through) was on steampunk costuming. When you have panelists who complain about having to use the microphones, and two of the three panelists are late, you know you are in trouble. Dribbled and drabbed about before heading back over to the hotel.
I swear, I'll do a more complete review of panels when I get home and can review notes.
The big event Sunday was of course the Hugos. It's fairly odd to be friends with some of the nominees, and we were all quite happy when Cheryl Morgan won for Best Fan Writer. Perhaps the biggest cheer of the night came when Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog won for Best Dramatic Presentation (Short Form).
We were going to brave the party floors to congratulate Reno on winning the 2011 big and Raleigh for winning the NASFIC, but Kiri's scooter developed a flat tire. Oh, well. We drank in our hotel bar. Drank a little too much, actually.
We need to turn in the scooter and I want to take a few more pictures. Tomorrow, before we have to leave, I'm going to visit a museum of Canadian banking. Then we fly home.
Home. best part of a vacation.
