Brilliant cover. And I swear, the ease with which MJ's songs are covered and moved into other genres is part of what proves the quality of his work. I saw that argument lodged about the emo rock version of Wham!'s "Careless Whisper," which could do nothing about the lyrics but showed the power of the melody line. Every genre-shifted cover of Jackson just reinforces it for me.
The same comment applies to Bob Dylan's work. So much of his stuff has been covered successfully by other artists, and yet the originals remain strong.
