Before I noticed "1963 - 2008", I was about to say it was a pity they couldn't have blurred into Matt Smith at the end.

I suspect they'll be revamping the theme for Smith's run.

Cool...

Also, checkout whomix.trilete.net for a directory of Who-theme remixes.

The iconic version to me will always be the (mostly) blue tunnel of light, from late Pertwee to early Tom Baker. The rock remix that followed it wasn't bad, though. And I even liked McGann's theme; pity so much of the rest of that movie was pants.

Does the current theme have that almost-triumphant tone I hear, or is that an artifact of the remix winding up to the end?

The most recent version does have that triumphant tone to it, with the strings that make me almost want to weep.

is alright by me.

I WAS objecting to the "better than sex" but I'll have to allow that it is certainly within a stone's throw.

Ahhhhhhh. Yeah I'm old.

I thought the Eccleston and Tenninch bits were a bit awful, til I remembered that that conceit was taken out in the new series.

Suddenly it strikes me that this is another example of the accelerating pace of technological change.

It's been 20 years since I watched Doctor Who regularly (on KQED) - and today, I see teenagers cranking out You Tube dramas with their parent's (or their own!) video cameras that are as good, or in some cases better than, the 'professionally made' TV shows of the mid-80's.

Not to cross contaminate universes, but...

'Fascinating..."

2:19 will always be the real opening to Dr. Who for me.
