Below a LJ cut, write a LJ posting that you wish would happen one day. However unlikely it might be...and however hilarious it might be.
Basic format is date, subject, any tags, that sort of thing, then the posting.

GIANTS WIN THE WORLD SERIES 4-2!!!!
In case you couldn't understand the voice post I made earlier, tonight we finally did it. . . and Kiri and I were there! My great-grand boss Ugo caught me when I came in and told me he had two tickets for the game, and couldn't go. Since I handled the Fresno fiasco so well, he was giving them to me. A quick call to Kirsten, run home for Giants stuff, and we took the train up.
It was a freaking zoo. I feel sorry for any actual commuters, because it was stuffed with screaming Giants fans. After Wednesday's amazing come from behind win in Detroit (you think anyone is ever going to forget the image of Kevin Frandsen practically crawling home after tripping in the eighth?) we were psyched and ready to show up. The vast amount of free beer being passed around didn't hurt.
The whole area around AT&T was electric. It felt like a typical San Francisco street party, but with fewer naked people. Getting in was a pain, but eventually we found out seats. In Section 121, about four rows back! We were practically next to the Giants' dugout!
Honestly, the pregame stuff was pretty overdone and boring. Tony Bennet singing "I Left My Heart In San Francisco" was nice. Then Tim Lincecum lead the Giants onto the field, and things got rocking. We gave up an early 3 run lead because of two costly errors, but came back in the fifth with a six run rally powered by John Bowker's just over the wall grand slam. The Tigers kept things close, but Brian Wilson came in and after his usual heart attack start, blew away a Tiger on three straight pitches, which left us with one out, man on first and Miguel Cabrera at the plate. The count goes 2-1, then Cabrera hits a smoker to Sandoval at 3rd. For a heart-stopping moment, he bobbled the ball, but then fired it to Frandsen, who turned and shot the ball to Bowker just inches ahead of Cabrera, who was running like his heart was about to burst. But the ball got there first, the umpire signaled the out, and then..
What followed wasn't a sound. It was a force. 41,000+ fans letting loose of 51 years of frustration. 51 years of "wait-til-next-year." 51 years of near-misses, also-rans, and should've beens. It was the exorcism of the Earthquake Series, McCovey's Line Drive, the 1993 season, and that last Game 6. In New York I'm certain that at that moment a ghostly form of the Polo Grounds formed, so that the specters of Giants fans past could join in the accomplishment. It was the very soul of the Giants Nation screaming out in joy and relief that finally, finally we can say it.
World Series Champion San Francisco Giants.
As we filed out, Giants employees were waiting to give us our commemorative pins, and we debated staying in the City for what looked to be an all-night party. But sanity somehow prevailed, and we took what has to be the happiest train in history back to San Jose, and from there home. I got in and immediate turned on ESPN for the highlights. Imagine my surprise when I see Kirsten and I made it into a shot! When the Tigers had the bases loaded in the 6th, and Molina catches that popup by the bench to end the inning? We're in the upper left of the shot just as he moves that way to catch the ball.
I'll post pictures tomorrow, along with news links. But now, bed. I have to buy about forty newspapers tomorrow morning. :)
World Series Champs.. eat that, Dodgers!
Thanks to
zakueins for the idea!
