Yeah, kind of a busy Saturday.
Our first goal this morning was to apply for our passports. We had filled out the forms online, printed them, and checked several times to see that we had everything in order. Get to the office, and there's a note on the door stating that they don't accept Birth Record Abstracts.
kshandra, of course, had one of these, and has used it when required for ages with no problems. So, reschedule that one. You would think that they would mention this somewhere on the freaking website or in the information you print out.
So, with tears in our eyes we drove off into the sunset looking for another place to spend our Saturday. (50 geek points if you spot and identify the song lyric.) It was decided that I needed a new Giants hat, and there's a Giants dugout store in Westfield Valley Fair. Folks, I spent many hours at Valley Fair when I was much younger. After the GameTable closed, the game store in that mall was my source of crack. I did not recognize the place. It has more than doubled in size since I last walked in there voluntarily. We wandered a bit, found the Giants store, and after looking over the selection, ended up with a new hat, a Mike Krukow t-shirt, and an AT&T Park 2009 calender. That place is bad for my wallet. Equally bad is Hot Topic, but I got out with Metal for the Masses Vol. 6. I was quite proud of Kirsten, as she was the one who suggested walking around the mall and ate a very healthy lunch.
Here's my old and new hats side by side:

In another end of an era moment, Mervyn's is closing. I think I should go down and see if I can find some horrid striped pants and earth tone shirts to celebrate all the terrible back-to-school shopping wars
baka49er and I waged all those years ago. What say you, Mom? I can still roll my eyes and whine.
The attack on the apartment has begun! Several loads of laundry are being done, both here an at Oasis, and once clean We're going to go through the pile and give a whole mess of it to Goodwill. Once the bedroom is in order, we move onto the living room.
But now, it's beer time.
