My sore throat is really starting to piss me off. It's one of those that makes reflexive swallowing hurt. I'll try gargling warm salt water before bed.

When I had The Sinus Infection From Hell last January, and nearly lost my voice from it (honest to God, I sounded like Harvey Fierstein on Valium), what saved me was Lipton Honey and Lemon Tea.
What he said or any tea with honey. And the salt water doesn't hurt. You can also dilute peroxide (1 part to 3 parts water) and gargle with that. The nurse at school does that with the kids and it seems to help. Feel better. Hugs.
Sorry you're not feeling well. Sore throats are my absolute least favorite type of being ill.
In addition to the other suggestions, I'd also recommend Aspergum. If your local pharmacy carries it, it might be behind the counter, these days.
Aspergum is pretty much what it sounds like: a tablet of gum that releases aspirin into your saliva, which then coats your throat with creamy pain-free goodness. In my experience, it lasts longer than both salt-water and Chloraseptic, but I usually tag-team against a sore throat with every remedy I know.
