Too much to really relate without wearing out the words "fuck," moron," and "three state killing spree" so I'll hit the lowlights.

  • It took over two hours to load. Having to help Juan, late pulls, and mass confusion meant I didn't roll until 0815

  • Whereupon I immediately have a flat tire. I've been pointing out the worn front tires in maintenance reports for weeks, but nothing happened. Until now.

  • After sitting on Montague Expressway for an hour, and watching an oblivious young Asian woman in a Prius drive over all three of my marker triangles, I was on my happy way.

  • Get to my first pick-up, a small metal fab shop, and learn that the order was faxed in last night. This place employs about six people. And we aren't their only client!

  • Get to The Vendor In The Corn only to learn that today was the company picnic. I did get one order, since it was boxed and could be picked up. The other three? The forklifts were all locked up already.

  • Roll into another vendor only to learn everything I was there to get was back-ordered.

  • Get sent across route lines to Union City for the second day in a row. Get there ten minutes before closing.

  • Every single weigh station on my route was open.

It wasn't all bad. The day was beautiful, I got to drive Niles Canyon, and spent some time with my time-share dog, but fuck, the morons today made me itch for a three-state killing spree.

Yeesh. When you lead with "fired," it's a bit scary. Sorry about all of the morons.

Have you considered using mines to weight them down? :-)

They don't call it "DWO" (Driving While Oriental) for nothin', Doug!

Why is this noteworthy?

They scheduled me to go to this place on the assumption that they'd have the owrk done in less than 24 hours. Nobody even bothered to check with the vendor to see if the material was ready.

Regarding the weigh stations, can your company perhaps get the Pre-Pass (http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/traffops/trucks/bypass/) so you don't have to stop at the weigh stations?

Not a chance. Only two routes hit the scales on a daily basis (me and the East Bay driver) and we're so rarely even close to max gross that the expense isn't worth it.

Most days, I only stop at one scale, the one on 680 North at Mission grade. The others on my route are either easily avoided or rarely open.
