George Carlin, the Grammy-Award winning standup comedian and actor who was hailed for his irreverent social commentary, poignant observations of the absurdities of everyday life and language, and groundbreaking routines like "Seven Words You Can Never Use on Television," died in Los Angeles on Sunday, according to his publicist, Jeff Abraham. He was 71.

apandaleaf told us in the car last night when she picked us up. Considering the man's health has been shit for the last few years, I'm not entirely surprised, but that doesn't make it suck any less.

In an interesting bit of what I choose to call symmetry, my brother and I were watching Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip on his PSP while we were waiting for our flight out of Boston yesterday. I commented at the time that Pryor had both died too soon and lived a fuck of a lot longer than anyone who did what he did could expect.
