Gay marriage is legal in California.

Every war has its turning point. WWII had Midway, and the march for equal rights for all Americans has June 17th, 2008.

Today, the floodgates opened. Gay couples from the Mexican border to the Oregon line queued up to receive the same legal status that was give to Kirsten and me 17 years ago. They lined up in not only San Francisco and the other more progressive counties, but even in the rural areas.

Massachusetts was a watershed. But California has no residency requirement for a marriage license, and we're a better tourism destination anyway. Dozens, then hundreds, then thousands of gay couples will come to San Francisco, stay at the Inn on Castro (or Beck's Motor Lodge for the Dead Cow Crowd) and spend money while tying the knot.

They will then fly away home and file challenges to the local bigot laws and to DOMA.

And win.

Oh, that picture is of the second floor balcony of SF City Hall. The entire building is that freaking cool.

That's simply a great picture. So very classy! And the two men who look like they've waited ages for this chance.... Dude, there's nothing I find abhorrent about this picture or the two men in love. =)

I really hope the people of California vote 'no' to the proposed amendment in November. Folks like this... they deserve to have this kind of happiness as much as any other person.

It's starting to look like the measure will get removed from the ballot for being illegal!

We saw a pair of boys in tuxes holding hands walking down the street in West Hollywood today. It was a nice sight, to say the least.

I find it all so wonderful.

And I'm extremely proud of my state. Sure, I wasn't born there, but that's what I answer, without even thinking about it, when someone asks where I'm from. :)

I'm just waiting for some televangelist to start saying that this CAUSED the floods.
I've said it before, I'll say it again, it sickens me that this is the last widely Accepted discrimination in the United States. I really hope that the tide is finally turning and gay people can live without others imposing their prejudices and their religious intolerances on them and restricting their rights.
