Actually, I am a juror.. number 6 to be precise. Neither lawyer seemed to put out by a cancer survivor on the jury, they just determined that I could be impartial and judge the case on it's merits.
I did manage to get a laugh. When the entire mob of potential jurors was in the room, the bailiff was instructing us on courtroom procedure, and mentioned that the wearing of hats was prohibited, except for religious reasons.
"So," says I, "Do the Giants count?" I was, of course, wearing my Giants cap.
Supposed to last 4-5 weeks. We'll see what happens.

Date: 26 Sep 2002 22:56 (UTC)The Fully Informed Jury Association (http://www.fija.org) has a ton of information about jury nullification. I believe it is your duty to find a non-guilty verdict if you disagree with the law, regardless of any instruction from the court.

Date: 27 Sep 2002 08:26 (UTC)While I understand the concept of jury nullification, I strongly disagree with it. It allows criminals to go free for no legal reasons, but rather because of the prejudices of the jury.. something we swear to set aside.
A rather silly example. I am seated on the jury for the murder trial of a man who killed Hideo Nomo of the LA Dodgers (spit). Despite the preponderance of the evidence, I can decide that I don't think that killing a Dodger is that bad. That is wron
