Cain delivers on mound, with bat in Giants win
It was Korean-American Night at the ballpark, so I made use of my half-remembered Korean curses when necessary.
The best moment of the evening came before the first pitch. Fred Lewis was up to bat and I was, from the center field bleachers, giving him some encouragement. "C'mon Freddie, start this thing off with a triple!" Second pitch of the game, and he does just that. G-men scored three times in the first, pitcher Matt Cain added a solo home run in the fifth.
Good night out. I managed to keep Kiri out of the Build-a-Bear, but we did pick up some Giants stuff for Darby and a new fleece throw for night games. At the KNBR booth, we dropped two bucks to spin their wheel of fortune. Kirsten scored a CD of the Giant's greatest moments, going back to the 1936 World Series. I won... the exact same thing, but they let me choose between a Giants lanyard and a mouse pad. I took the mouse pad.
And at this point I can barely move my left arm.
(The title of the post is the first line of I Left My Heart In San Francisco. After every home victory they play this song as sung by the great Tony Bennett as the fans file out.)
