Yes, I went to a Duran Duran concert.

While I can't say that I'm a big fan, I've enjoyed a lot of their music over the years, and when
kshandra bought a four-pack for the show, going was a natural.
I had a good time. The opening act, Your Vegas was very entertaining even with the lead singer hobbling around on a broken foot. Kiri and I really enjoyed spending time with
britgeekgrrl, and I had a really good, expensive, plastic cup of Cabernet Sauvignon.
After a really quick break, Duran Duran took the stage. The set list and commnetary is lifted with permission from Kirsten's post on the subject.
* The Valley (songs listed in italics are all from the new album)
* Red Carpet Massacre
* Nite Runner
* Hungry Like The Wolf
* Planet Earth
* Falling Down
* Come Undone
* Skin Divers
* The Reflex (which gave us the quote in the subject line, as Simon managed to blank on the chorus once and invert the lines a second time)
* Save A Prayer
* A View to a Kill
There was a brief instrumental here as they did a a costume change and a bit of set rearranging; when the lights came back up, all four of the remaining original members were front-and-center (Nick and John behind mirror-D keyboard stands - John played a LOT of keyboard last night; Roger with a stand-up electronic drum kit; and Simon with a Korg sequencer/keyboard), and went into something the program refers to as the Electro Set:
* Last Chance on the Stairway
* All She Wants Is
* Warm Leatherette
* I Don't Want Your Love
* Skin Trade (an abbreviated version, I'm told.)
* Tempted
Back to the main instruments at this point....
* Notorious
* Girls On Film (Someone managed to get up onstage and GRAB Simon during this number; security had their work cut out for them prying her off. Simon was both rather stunned - "She grabbed my ass!" - and more than a little impressed, gesturing off-stage at the end of the number to acknowledge her effort.)
* Introductions happened during the Girls bridge. We decided at this point that their guitarist must be in the Witness Protection Program or something, because they only shot him above the shoulders twice all evening, and even then only in profile.
* Ordinary World
* (Reach Up For The) Sunrise
* Wild Boys
Offstage briefly, then "Rio" for the encore. All told, it was almost two and a half hours; we SO got our money's worth last night.
After the show, and dropping BGG off, we had to drive back to Mountain View to pick up Darby from her workplace, and we both drove home. Got in at around 0100.
