Some moron has written, and other morons have published, a RPG supplement about abortion.

And to think that Back In The Day we got all bothered about Module B3 - Palace of the Silver Princess

Morons have been writing moronic rpg supplements for more than thirty years now. It's just that with the internet it spreads farther than the mimeograph pages did.

I wrote for Imperium Games, so I'm not arguing the depth of history when it comes to moronic supplements, but abortion?? I've been a GM since 1976 and honestly cannot think of any possible use of such a topic that would require an actual published piece of work.

I am sure it'll be done in good taste, approaching the issue with the sensitivity that it requires.

Ah, who am I kidding.

As anyone who has ever had to walk through the raving hordes for any reason will tell you, I remain unamused at the concept.

My current OB/GYN is located in a so-called abortion clinic, as a matter of fact. Their previous location had a pro-life store/whatever you call it move in next door.

I used to be a clinic escort. Extremely unamused at the concept.

The pregnancy before me was a miscarriage. The remains, for lack of a better word, were requested to be brought in so the doc could inspect them. Said appointment was in a clinic that was, among other things, an abortion clinic.

Mom always did say she was glad she had her head on straight, because otherwise going through that crowd, holding a jar that held what was left of a wanted pregnancy, having 'don't kill your baby' screamed at her would have been horrific in a way that would have induced nightmares for a long time.

What's your opinion on so-caled documentary gaming? Perhaps this is meant to put people into different roles for these issues.

That being said, so-called docu-gaming has including things ranging from the Columbine shooting to playing hitler in WW2.

I'm from the era when the RPG hobby had a F at the front. For Fantasy. I really can't understand why someone would want a supplement like this. You want to get involved in the current debate on abortion? It's really out there for you. I can't organize a band of space pirates to raid the diamond mines of Tau Ceti IV, but I can volunteer as a clinic escort.

Then there is the fact that I feel there are some issues that shouldn't be part of a RPG. Pretty much anything that is likely to cause real dissension at the table should be left aside.

Role-playing as a method of exploring historical events is fine. Play Hitler, or act out the debates over Roe v. Wade, but do we really need an Abortion Provider character class?

Oh Jesus fucking Christ in a sidecar and Mary on toast. This almost makes me want to deny ever having been a gamer.

Note that some people write stuff specifically to push the bounds of poor taste and take trollish amusement in squicking others out/getting a reaction from them.

Does this also explain movies of Uwe Boll? (apart from the tax dodges he's pulling)

LOL!!! I only wish it did....otherwise, there really is no explanation for that. I'm embarrassed to say I've actually watched one of his movies and it was pretty unfortunate.

Except this doesn't look like that kind of thing. Frighteningly enough, it appears to be a serious attempt to make a playable RPG supplement.
