OK, that was odd. I've complained in the past about the guy living next door to us with his four boys. Stereos and video games turned up to levels where they rattled the walls, the endless yelling for one kid or the other to come upstairs. Just recently, I contemplated murder.
Today we were leaving to do some errands and their door was wide open. Except for a basketball and a bucket filled with cleaning supplies, the place was empty. Funny thing is, Randy hadn't mentioned anything about moving to us, and when we saw them yesterday it seemed a normal Saturday. They must have moved out last night. Quickly.
When we got home from a trip to the skeevy hot tub place and shopping, Kirsten learned that they had been served with an eviction notice. They seemed to have every electronic toy known to man and a really nice TV. I don't think non-payment of the rent was an issue. Maybe too many noise complaints?
But who moves out in the middle of the night? Even if you're skipping on the rent, did they think we were going to call the landlords?
Well, at least it will be a little quieter around here for a while, and the wait time for the laundry will go way down.
I'm hoping for some Trappist monks to take the place. Or mimes.
Oh, the hot tub place was a no-tell motel with jacuzzis, but the water was hot and (after about a half hour) the sauna was pleasant.
