gridloreI got in this morning at 0600, and had four jobs in my slot. Four. Along with one pick up, my day would have looked a bit like this.
Long drive, but I could have done it in about eight hours.
0555 - clock in.
0610 - Get told that an order for Stockton is at 7th St. No idea how big it is.
0620 - start loading.
0705 - loading complete.
0715 - That pallet is on truck. Now I need to add a pallet for a vendor in Pacheco.
0720 - Find out that the Stockton order is five pallets.
0740 - After much drama, that pallet is wrapped an on the truck. Ready to leave. Get told that I need to load additional pallet for Ripon.
0741 - Threaten three-state killing spree. Make creative suggestions on what I will do with the bones of my coworkers. As k boss who the fuck I'm supposed to get all this crap on my truck.
0745 - Head out to do my one Milpitas stop. Lose half the shit on my truck in one stop.
0840 - Back at warehouse. Load remaining material there.
0905 - Arrive at 7th Street. All five pallets are on the floor ready to go... but no material certifications.
0940 - Get word to leave that order behind. Now planning four-state killing spree. Still not King.
1035 - Arrive at first of two Livermore stops. One is Larry's Rad Lab.
1120 - Leave the Magical World of LLNL. Stop at a gas station/Subway (That empty field between Southfront and Greenville is now an Arco station.) This stop (lasting about ten minutes) is my only real break of the day. Eat the sandwich while driving over the Altamont pass.
1150 - Get called that I have a pick up at a vendor in Livermore. A vendor literally across the street from LLNL. Consider extending killing spree to select Canadian Provinces. Still the prettiest.
1210 - Arrive in Ripon.
1225 - Depart Ripon.
1310 - Arrive Livermore vendor. My dog is back from vacation!
1312 - Dog accepts that I'm there to do more than provide ear-skritches and belly-rubs.
1315 - Depart Livermore.
1405 - Arrive at Waste Water Treatment Plant in Concord. Harsher security measures than at LLNL. Have to pass through three gates.
1425 - Depart WTP. In an amusing side note, a facility covering several acres dedicated to processing the stuff that goes down the toilet had one (1) portasan for the contractors working the site.
1430 - Overtime!
1435 - Arrive at Pacheco vendor. Discover that the box on the pallet had split.
1450 - Depart Pacheco
1550 - Arrive back at warehouse.
1620 - Clock out. Stubble status: rugged.
I made it home about 1740. I grabbed a beer on my way to the bathroom, even before I dropped my backpack.
This week has been about ten days too long.

Date: 14 Mar 2008 05:53 (UTC)i called 2H6 from my cel, threatening to release "bad red" from his long term, HR dept. imposed, vacation. she asked me to give her a few moments to call my boss.
called back, explained contributing factors, and i went back to low hover, but still condition red, weapons free. rest of day was absolute schise.
she later recounted part of the tale to my boss, saying that she had talked me "down off the ceiling".
i pointed out that i hadn't been on the ceiling, but rather had been on the roof and about to engage all targets in my AO that were in LOS. (bad red's MO, which is quite in/famous in some circles)
it got quiet on the phone & i got another scotch.
today wasn't much better.
i hate my profession and the scumbag shitbirds in it.
more scotch now. %-)
