My 9/11

I spent the bulk of Wednesday off-line. Despite my desire to avoid the media, I ended up watching the memorial at the WTC. Nice to see they pronounced every name correctly. It was a bit sobering to see all those names scroll by waiting for Liam's, knowing that each one was linked to a story just as rich and interesting as his.

Ended up watching The Discovery Channel. Rather than wallow in 9/11, they spent the day on shows that displayed the American spirit. History of the Washington Monument, Great American parks, and the like. Some interesting stuff there.

About 1100, I called [livejournal.com profile] fimbrethil and chatted for a while about everything and nothing, mostly about the ceremony. Kiri came home in the middle of this, and also got to talk. It was nice hearing what one of the LJers sounded like! (Love your accent, m'lady!)

About 1600, with Kirsten asleep, I decided I had finished my 24-hour Lent and checked mail. Loren Wiseman asked me to do a bit on non-traditional families for GT: Nobles. Credit and a free copy? Sure! Ordered a pizza, which took forever, and inhaled it.

I rescheduled my doctor's appointment. I just wasn't up to an hour bus ride. Why? Because yesterday was the roof repair! Starting at 0715! Near-constant banging, thudding and crashing, all accompanied by plaster and bits of tar raining down into the apartment. They were supposed to come back today... so far they haven't, so maybe they finished yesterday.

We watched the VH1 replay of the Concert for New York City. Very good, and John Entwistle's final performance. My God, that man had fast fingers! Went to bed around 2200, fell asleep quickly.
Kirsten came home, and crashed.
