Yesterday sucked. Let me explain. No, that's too long.
1. Get to work at 0630

2. Mandatory all-hands meeting starts at 0700

3. At 0830, the drivers are all starting to really glare at the bosses and make obvious glances at their watches.

4. 0845, and I'm told that because one of my coworkers is an idiot, I am sudden;y driving East Bay.

5. 0900: I pull out. Luckily I recognize about half my stops, and can find the others on the map.

6. 1015: Finishing my last stop in Fremont, I get called. The delivery going to the Bay Bridge project needs to go up immediately.

7. 1130: make the Bridge delivery. Decide to go to my one Berkeley stop.

8. 1150: Finish Berkeley, call in for pick ups. Tim cuts half of them off me so we can get them done.

(A brief digression. Unlike my route, East Bay is linear in execution. The driver goes north, making deliveries until he reaches his last stop, then calls in for pick ups and does these coming back south. Now since I had been interrupted in this by the order to bypass pretty much everything to reach Oakland, I still had a huge pile of shit on the truck.)

9. 1200-1220: Fail to locate two different clients at a single, multiblock job site in downtown Oakland.

10. 1320: Spend twenty minutes getting two pallets loaded.

11. 1400: Have to breakdown and hand load 45 buckets of marking twine. No room on the truck for the pallet.

12. 1440: Send [livejournal.com profile] kshandra a 911 text asking for a cross street in Hayward.

13. 1450: hear from that stop, they've already left for the day.

14. 1500: Another stop closes early on Fridays.

15. 1540: Make last delivery.

16. 1630: Last pick up reopens shop to get me my boxes.

17. 1715: Drive into warehouse.

18. 1730: finish paperwork, announce that I'm taking lunch.

19. 1745: Kirsten shows up, I clock out.

The two killers here were the long-ass meeting and having to break order for the bridge order. I don't like doing East Bay (too much traffic, mainly) but I'll do it when required. I just hope for more sanity and and earlier start!

Wednesday I talked to Ugo, the corporate operations manager. My great-grandboss, if you will. This involved setting up an overwatch position on the office he was using for a meeting and launching an ambush when he emerged. I made it clear that I love my job, 99% of my coworkers, and do not want to leave, but I cannot afford to keep working there at the same wage as I was hired at almost two years ago. He was quite appalled to learn I haven't gotten a single raise, and promised me he would take care of it. I was hoping to hear from him yesterday, but since Hayward is closing their office and moving this weekend I can understand he got distracted. Based on what he said, this may be a big raise. Cross your fingers.
