gridlore, what is your favorite baseball team to hate other than the Dodgers ?

The New York Yankees. I hate their owner, I hate their attitude that they somehow invented baseball, I hate their firm belief that they somehow deserve a playoff spot every year.

I'd love to see a salary cap in the MLB just to see the Bronx Bums and the Red Sox forced to a more level playing field.

I have to agree with you there on the Stankees... they're even with the Cardinals on my hate list.

Speaking of baseball, it's great to see the Milwaukee Brewers doing much better this year.

Of all AL teams, the Yankees are tops on my list in terms of teams I love to hate, the Red Sox are not too far behind them.

Hopefully, I don't get yelled at for my favorite AL team being Oakland, just for the slight Philly connection.

...Giants pitcher, past or present?

Date: 15 Jul 2007 19:03 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gridlore.livejournal.com
Past: Close race between John "the Count" Montefusco (http://www.baseball-reference.com/m/montejo01.shtml) and Dave Dravecky (http://www.baseball-reference.com/d/draveda01.shtml).

The Count for being one of the all-time greats, and for throwing the last no-hitter for the Giants, and Dravecky for coming back from cancer. He was an inspiration for me during my fight.

Present: Probably Noah Lowry (http://www.baseball-reference.com/l/lowryno01.shtml). Kid's a lefty, and when he has his stuff together he has one of the nastiest curves in the league.

I have to say that I always hold a spot in my heart for closers like Robb Nen (http://www.baseball-reference.com/n/nenro01.shtml) and the late Rod Beck (http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/beckro01.shtml). That's the job I'd want in baseball.

gridlore, what is your favorite non-Traveler (and GURPS) gaming system?

Date: 15 Jul 2007 19:08 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gridlore.livejournal.com
FUDGE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FUDGE). Amazingly versatile, very rules-light, and endlessly tweakable.

Frankly, if they didn't keep offering me money, I'd chuck GURPS. Way too many rules and special cases. The few people who are interested in local games don't want to memorize an entire rulebook. That's the nice thing about FUDGE: it is very simple to learn.

Best part? It's free! (http://www.fudgerpg.com/fudge.html)

Gridlore, what is your favorite time of day?

Date: 16 Jul 2007 02:27 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gridlore.livejournal.com
The last few moments of twilight before the dawn. When the sky is lighter than the ground and everything is just getting started.

The fact it is the best time for sniping is just a bonus.
