Anybody got a spare $15,000 lying around? Because we could really use it. The payments are at a level we can manage, assuming we cease having lives for a time. But damn, that cars rocks. It's a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring model

I'm amazed Kirsten got to sleep last night.

Me? After back to back 10+ hour days, I'd be thrilled just to get out of work on time today.

It looks good and is economical to run.

Apparently they have problems with the auto transmission, AC and brakes. Also oil consumption.

So if you do get one get a stick and keep your eye on the oil.

The model they had on the lot (we got it used from Enterprise) was an automatic. Doug does eventually want to move back to San Francisco (though I don't see it happening while we still have the car payment), and a manual transmission is simply NOT an option for us there. But the advice is appreciated; I'm used to keeping a close eye on the oil (our most recent car had a slow leak hidden somewhere), so it won't be difficult to maintain those habits.

They also had other problems with the auto transmission, surging, hunting and sudden acceleration or lack of same.

I can see your point about SF streets and manuals.

Speaking of spare cash... According to NY Times, about $12 billion in cash meant as substitute currency for Iraq vanished into thin air. Just imagine, several shrink-wrapped skids of money just went poof...

Y'know...there's probably a movie in that somewhere.
