We're one step closer to battledress. I'm impressed that guy drove for several hours wearing it, and is willing to stand in it and take live fire to demonstrate its ability to protect the wearer.
I'm still a bit sick, and today's 10-hour marathon did not help things. But, I am happy. Nay, I am actually giddy with glee! Because, sitting with arm's reach is The West Wing. Not Season 1, Not third-generation VHS copies recorded off a broadcast station in American Samoa, but the complete series on DVD. Thanks,
jarlsberg71!
Now if I was only awake enough to watch them. Ah, well. Since
kshandra will be at FurCon this weekend (and I've often maintained that I will only attend a furry event dressed as a Voyageur) I suspect I will spend large portions of the weekend in political-porn bliss. I'm still thinking about going to the Giants' fan-fest, but if the weather and I both remain crappy, I'll call it off.

Unfortunately he's the classic outsider garage-inventor, and clearly doesn't have the connections a corporate R&D slave would have. Thus he has to stage media stunts to get the attention of the right people in the military.
I just saw a report on the suit this evening on Discovery (Canada). It may look totally Hollywood, but also remarkably light and flexible. I hope it works as advertised.

BWA-hahaha!
Hope you get well soon, dude.

Date: 17 Jan 2007 07:43 (UTC)More than a bit. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troy_Hurtubise"")
It's sad to see a guy with a few obviously rad ideas bury them under a lot of wild, unverified and unverifiable claims.
But you gotta love this bit about the bear suit: "Hurtubise approached a tall, heavy biker and his colleagues, and paid them to attack him while wearing the suit, with baseball bats, splitting mauls, and wooden two by fours. The suit survived, as did Hurtubise, while the weapons were reduced to splinters."
