Look you can't drop a drama bomb like that and then not say what happened. its totally not fair. and if you didn't want to talk about it you wouldn't have said anything. So assume that we have placed bamboo under your fingernails, used the rubber hoses and bare bulb on you and tell us what the story is.
Nobody you know, nobody you'd want to know. Sun shines out her ass, the universe exists solely for her entertainment. The question "If it's not about me, then why are they talking to me?" actually came out of her keyboard once. Put plainly, I have fewer regrets about Machell than I do about this individual.
Nothing at all. She's a former girlfriend of mine who has a disturbing habit of retconning the universe to suit her desires. I really did love her, once....
Ouch. I had an ex who did that. Drove me absolutely round the bend. I finally called her on it and said "I'm sorry, but I can only deal with things as they were, not as you would like to remember them."
And that, as they say, was the end of that.
(What drove me even more insane is that that behaviour is one she'd routinely call other people on and castigate them for. A friend of mine observed, "Well, of course. If she let other people get away with it, you'd have two people lying, and you'd NEVER be able to figure out what was really going on.")
I think this is the first time I've actually referred to her by name on LJ - usually it's She Who Pouts. Here's a blast from the past...one of the last times I actually spoke to her, shortly after I got on LJ five and a half years ago(!!!).
Friends don't let friends post in LJ before coffee ---------- Wow, We both have the same tastes in girlfriends (rotten), at least you have good taste in Boys.
Sigh sadly not a option for me....
I’m so going to have to get you drunk at next con and get the whole story……
"I'm sorry, but I can only deal with things as they were, not as you would like to remember them."
Even that I might be able to handle ($DEITY knows I've been guilty of it myself in the past). This is a case of making mountains out of molehills to make better soundbites out of her story.
You know she finely stopped with the urban legends, now she just sends the Friendship Angels and other Schmaltz.
I don’t mind it too much, I have a few friends who like that kind of thing so I just pass it on to them. That way they get warm fuzzes and I don’t brake the chain :-)
The ones that aren't too painfully cute, I post in my journal behind a cut-tag after I cut all the "Don't break the chain!" bullshit. The ones that come to me with the "Send this back to the person you got it from OR ELSE" riders I won't pass along, but I'll write back to the person who sent it and thank them for caring about me (even if I can think of far better ways to express it).
Uh, Doug? Since that serial number looks suspiciously like it's from after they started using SSNs as serial numbers, posting it is a reallly, *really* bad idea...
Well, in fairness, I don't think what happened to her was a molehill. I think it was wrong of her to say what she did, and what happened that day certainly devastated other lives in a way it did not devastate hers, and saying what she did was an exaggeration at best, so I can see why the saying seemed to fit. But "molehill" trivialises what did happen to her just a bit too much, I think.
Fair enough - a mountain out of a foothill would perhaps be a better representation of scale. Not something you ignore, but not something that should be overstated. (Claiming the events of the day had a direct effect on my personal life, when what it directly affected was my professional livelihood, would have been molehill territory.)
Ditto (although I confess to curiosity) -- and no, this isn't an offer to get rid of the undeserving, sorry. I've got others on my list first, if it ever came to that. ;)
