First is my deep and heartfelt aversion to all things sports-related, which tries to make me tune out even the most basic information about sports.
Second is my passion for trivia, which tries to make me memorize every little info-nugget I run across.
Combine the two and you end up with a brain that contains a surprising number of sports factoids, names, dates, and so forth, but nearly all of them hanging in empty conceptual space, isolated from any context or meaning.
