I'm trying to get started again on the oft-delayed Lunion subsector project. I've got tons of neat ideas.. that all vanish when I actually sit down to write.

And the places I get them! On my bike in traffic, at work in the middle of helping customers, in the shower.. I swear to Ghu, I'm probably going to write half the damn book at the Giants game Friday! I do take notes, but they tend to be cryptic and once the moment of creation passes, it's hard for me to recover that thread in my heart.

Now that's I've pounded my head a little..

Once this is done, I'm planning on putting on my website as a "shareware PDF." There will be a link to my PayPal account, along with a note that if the reader liked this, and wants to see more, they should feel free to drop me a few bucks. I'm not looking to retire, but a few dollars into the kitty would help me save up for trips to see <;j user="eleri"> among other things.

So, it's poll time!

I didn't vote because my "no" to the first question requires elaboration. I don't mind paying, but payment method is problematic. I'm happy to use a credit card, but I don't buy things over the internet by any other means.

Cheques are normally a pain because of the international border between me and the US; money orders are too expensive; PayPal is right out.

Do you have clearance from Marc Miller to do a shareware Lunion? I'm pretty sure you'd need it if you asked for money.

I can't get LJ to let me fill out the poll.

FWIW I'd say:

Yes

A few Bucks (I'm poor)

No. This is because I figure if something's good enough to pay it should be paid for whether or not there's more coming.

As far as the ideas, would a pocket tape recorder help? I find that I can dictate a more complete synopsis faster than I can scrawl cryptic notes to myself. I'm not saying I always understand what I said, but it's a higher sucess rate.

I have the problem that once I've written something down, I don't want to write it again. Which is why I'm starting to dig thru the various list archives for old posts to harvest the ideas I've thrown around over the years.

I've been in a position to donate to things for a few months now and I tend to donate five bucks every month or two. Ten feels like a lot to me (in general, not just with writing) so I break it up.

Well, I've now gone and made myself a member. I was under the impression you needed some sort of invitation from a current member.
