WRT Vilani military structure, here's something to ponder:
Most current (early 21st century) force structures here on Terra are triangular, with three maneuver units, plus a fire support unit of equivalent size, plus CS/CSS elements.
Is this an inevitable result of the effects of technology on the Industrial-Age battlefield, or merely the result of the interaction between preexisting Terran military doctrine and the overlay of Industrial-Age capabilities? Given a long history of fighting technologically-inferior foes, would Vilani military structures have evolved differently? Further, assuming that Vilani TO&Es evolved differently (I'd expect a ratio of two maneuver elements to one fire support elements), what would be the tactical implications of a clash between the Vilani organization and the dominant Terran organization?
