The reality of the Armenian Genocde
Apr. 25th, 2021 06:05 pmI've just had to explain to a dozen people that the Armenian Genocide had nothing to do with religion and everything to do with Ottoman fears that the Armenians would rise up and aid Russia's war plans in the Caucasus.
The initial plan was to relocate the population from around Lake Van and surrounding areas. But incompetence, hatred, and fear led to people being led out into the desert and abandoned, which escalated to mass slaughters.
It wasn't an organized effort like the Final Solution in Nazi Germany. Instead, it was a bad plan executed by poorly-led troops with no logistical support and no checks on the ethnic hatred.
