Thirty days, Day 17
Aug. 31st, 2010 06:52 amDay 17- Someone you would want to switch lives with for one day and why
Hm. Growing up watching Tooter Turtle cartoons taught me the dangers of this kind of wish. For example, my first inclination is to say Lars Ulrich or Alex Skolnick so I could experience what it feels like to have 10,000+ people go nuts when you walk on stage. But I also understand that my day as a rock star would be filled with things that wouldn't be as pleasant.. dealing with pushy fans, sound checks, promotional events, tight schedules, etc. Same reason I'm hesitant to name one of my sports heroes. While it might be fun to be Buster Posey for a day I'm sure there would be downsides.
So I'm going an entirely different direction. I'd like to be Douglas Wheelock for one day. Why?
Because right now Colonel Wheelock is currently moving at about 17,000 miles an hour 190 miles into space. He's part of Expedition 24 on the International Space Station. One day in space? One day looking down at Earth from orbit, and seeing the infinite? I'll take it. Even the drudgery of that job would be cool, because it would be drudgery in space!

Oh, I want this.

If I made over $200 in overtime on the check I'm getting tomorrow, I'm going for it. I miss taking pictures, damnit!
