With Saint Patrick's Day just around the corner, those of us of actual Irish ancestry brace for a week of people thinking that corned beef and cabbage is a traditional Irish meal, Guinness' comes in cans, and leprechauns are cool little dudes. (They're actually the next best thing to demons in Irish folklore.) So while you appropriate my cultural heritage as yet another excuse to get drunk, enjoy some real Irish music.

(from Wikipedia)
Thin Lizzy are an Irish hard rock band who formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1969. The band were led throughout their recording career by bassist, songwriter and singer Phil Lynott, and are best known for their songs "Whiskey in the Jar", "Jailbreak" and "The Boys Are Back in Town", all major international hits still played regularly on hard rock and classic rock radio stations. After Lynott died, various incarnations of the band have emerged over the years culminating in a more stable line-up based around guitarists Scott Gorham and John Sykes. Sykes left the band in June 2009.

Thin Lizzy's leader, Lynott was composer or co-composer of almost all their songs. He was also one of the few black men to achieve significant success in hard rock. As well as being multiracial, the band drew their members not only from both sides of the Irish border but also from both the Catholic and Protestant communities. Their music reflects a wide range of influences, including country music, psychedelic rock, Irish music and traditional Irish folk music, but is generally classified as hard rock or sometimes heavy metal. Rolling Stone describe the band as distinctly hard rock, "far apart from the braying mid-70s metal pack".

Remember kids, real Irish beer is dark brown, not green, and can support small rocks on its surface. So rock out to Thin Lizzy performing The Boys Are Back In Town live from 1983, and go salaí na gráinneoga cealgrúnacha do chuid calóga arbhair.

The bookstore barely took any of our books, and gave us credit for what they did take. I'd have preferred money and empty boxes, but oh well.

The remaining books are probably going to Goodwill. They are not re-entering this apartment.
