McCain has done something really, really, stupid. A series of things, actually, and only tangentially related to the whole "I'm suspending my campaign, and can we delay/cancel the debates?" fiasco.
No, John McCain stood up David Letterman. Why is this bad? It left Dave with time to rant. It gave Dave time to call in Keith Olberman as a substitute guest, and then came the whopper.
Down. In. Flames.
Never, never, give a late night host known for his acerbic wit that much ammo.
It has also been pointed out that McCain's march to Washington is meaningless, since he's not on the committees debating the bailout plan! Under Senate rules, he can't even go into the rooms where the hearings are being held!
He's terrified of the media at this point, terrified of the debates, and his numbers are sinking, dragging down Republican candidates along with him.
I'm loving it.
