Missed it by that much.
Aug. 19th, 2008 06:02 pmI was this close to an eight-hour day. I was one turn from the warehouse. Then they sent me to Union City. sigh.
Today, the universe didn't want me to go anywhere in the Central Valley. Heading east on 120, I saw that 120 west was jammed solid. Since I was planning on using that, I called
kshandra to see if she could find anything on it. Truck fire, and those take forever to clear. So, after my drop in Modesto, up 99... which comes to a screeching halt just north of Manteca. Cresting an overpass, I see the multicar accident that is allowing small vehicles to squeeze by on the median. This, of course, left me out.
Luckily, I'm right at the exit for a street I recognize. Take it, drive past the winery we really need to visit sometime, and find that I can easily reach my next stop (Deliverance Metal Fabrication) on surface streets.
Saw two amusing churches. The first had a message sign that made me laugh out loud "Forgive Your Enemies. It Really Messes With Their Heads." I agree, but is that really the reasoning behind Jesus' command? The second was a nasty little clapboard church in a really run-down mixed industrial residential area of Stockton. "The Morning Star Evangelical Baptist Church". Guess who the Bible calls "Morning Star"?
