So sick of the heat.
Jul. 10th, 2008 03:43 pmWe're doing a new thing at work, with mixed but overall positive results. Instead of the drivers coming in at staggered times and working solo in loading, we're all coming in at 0530 and working in pairs to load trucks. Two drivers load one truck, then do the other. This has drastically cut load times for the busier and slower drivers, but for me (a fast loader who normally doesn't normally have a complex load) it means that I'm getting out later than normal. Exacerbating the problem is my partner is a local driver.. a lot of stuff, but he covers half a county while I need to cover 5+. So getting him to understand that I need to roll so I reach my farthest stops before they leave for the day is difficult.
But the heat. Records continue to fall, and the fire smoke is back with a vengeance. I was in Stockton for a couple of deliveries, and getting out of the truck was like walking into an oven. One that needed cleaning. Thankfully, the forecast is calling fr some relief, and there was a strong on-shore flow as I was heading home.
