Tonight we started on the work that will lead to my dentures. But first, a brief rant about work.
A week ago I told my boss that I had a dental appointment today at 1600. I guess that since I didn't spray paint it on the walls in neon letter ten feet high, it's my fault that this slipped his mind. So what did I get?
Angry map is Angry.
Those stops in Oakley and Brentwood could have been put off until Friday, which would have saved me close to two hours. In fact, at the beginning of the day, I was told to leave those two off! But later they got added back on. This resulted in me getting back to the warehouse at 1445, and if I'm very lucky, I catch the connections just right and get back home in an hour.
I called Kirsten for the number for the local GLBT (and Sikh) friendly cab company. Ugo overheard the call, and was a bit put out that I had been given so much driving on a day I needed off early. Long story short, the cab ride was about $40 with tip.
Once I was in, I had babies to coo over (mom with twins was in getting her two older kids attended too) and was finally called back. Four injections of numbing agent, and a cleaning these days involves an ultrasonic probe that vibrates the crap off your teeth. A few tough moments, but I think I did well for a dental-phobic. We were both amazed that some of my teeth didn't just crumble when all the built-up crap was removed. I now have a mouthwash labeled "Chlorhexidine Gluconate 0.12%" to use twice a day, and some heavy duty antibiotics to deal with the multiple gum infections I've picked up. So I'm enjoying a last night of multiple beers.
I go back on the 21st for extractions. Soon after that, impressions and my store-bought teeth!
(I swear, this was the first thing iTunes picked out of my Megadeth folder...)
