Last night I had the strangest dream. I was at a walk-up taco stand, the kind you find at flea markets or fairs, and ordered two steak burritos. They cost me $202.86. Why so much? "We gave you a plate." Whatever. But the burritos were amazing.. marinated steak, perfect flour tortillas, a blend of cheeses that was divine, and a sauce that was tangy and just hot enough. It's rare that I dream about food in this much detail. When I woke up, I made sure to double check the bear count to see if anyone was missing.
Even after spending the last few days resting, walking only when needed, I'm still having extreme problems standing and walking. I had to go downstairs this morning to get something out of the dryer. Going down was hard. Coming up? I had to reach down and lift my legs up the steps near the end. At least I figured out why my shoulders hurt; I've been trying to lift my full weight out of bed and chairs with my arms. Those muscles are not used to that load. I've been keeping up on stretching and the like, but this is getting old.
During my immobility I've been watching my West Wing DVDs. Right now, I'm on The Debate. This was the episode that aired live under the NBC News banner between Congressman Matthew Santos (Jimmy Smits) and Senator Arnold Vinick (Alan Alda) Seeing two really good actors working with a loose script and basically improving an hour of engaging television is a rare pleasure.
Death to telemarketers! I've gotten several calls on our landline from numbers that I can cannot call back. Needless to say, I cannot get to the phone quickly. If you need to call me, use my cell phone. I've just given up on answering the home phone. (
baka49er this means you.) If you don't have my cell number and feel the need to contact me on the phone, email me and I'll pass it out.
Kylie continues to be the cutest toddler in the world. She went with her parents to a reunion at Santa Clara University and fell in love with their mascot. Stalked him all around the event. Bucky the Bronco is Kylie's current best friend.
